Ubtan is the old Indian bath ritual of washing with a paste of fine herbal powders. Ubtan Glow Soap brings that ritual to a bar you can use every day.

Here the powders do the work of a gentle scrub. Multani mitti (fuller's earth), sandalwood, kacholam, kasturi manjal (wild turmeric) and manjistha are blended into the soap, so each wash buffs the skin lightly while the lather cleanses. The exfoliation is mild by design, which makes it suitable for regular use instead of an occasional treat.

The aroma comes from essential oils: nagarmotha for a woody, earthy base, with orange and lemon oils lifting it into something bright and clean.

Like the rest of our range, it is made on a vegetable oil base at a Grade 1 TFM standard, so the lather is rich and creamy and the bar lasts. It is sulphate free.

• Kacholam powder: Kaempferia galanga rhizome, used in traditional bath powders
• Kasturi manjal powder: wild turmeric, a traditional ubtan ingredient
• Manjistha powder: ground Rubia cordifolia root, used in traditional preparations
• Nagarmotha oil: essential oil with a woody, earthy aroma
• Orange and lemon oils: essential oils with a bright citrus aroma

Tiny specks and slight colour differences between batches are the herbal powders and are normal.
